James (Jimmy) Munford 96 of Herculaneum, MO, Died May 25, 2014James was br in Bolivar, Tennessee, December 25, 1917 to Johnnie Munford and Hattie Bell Polk, an only child. He waseducated in Tennessee public schools. James accepted JesueChrist as his savior at an early age. In 1942 James was marriedto the former Gertrude Davis, they have one son.Mr Munford served in the United States Army during WorlsWar II and fought in the Battle of Normandy. He has one son,two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.James lost both parents by the age of 6 years, ad was raised by relatives. James worked on a farm growing up, laterhe worked as an undertaker and casked builder for the GWWells Funeral Home in Bolivar, Tennessee. He was a painter and building maintenance foremen for Hudson Chemical Companyin St. Louis before being hired at the Archbishop's residence. Jameshad a number of duties at the Archbishop's residence, and wasknown for keeping the woodwork and floors of the historic homesporting a brilliant shine.James loved his job at the Archbishop's residence and allof the people he worked with. James received awards for his45 years of service on the job as well as his Christian spirit.Highlights of his career were meeting Pope John Paul II on his1999 Papal visit to St. louis. Receiving honors for his 45 yearsof service at the age of 95 by Archbishop Robert Carlson, andhaving the Staff Lunchroom named in his honor "The JimmyMunford Center" at the Rigali Center.He leaves behind: his son, Ronald (Mollie), grandson, Ronald Munford, Jr.,granddaughter, Jennifer Huling (Jerl) andthree great-grandchilden (Ronald, III, Murice, and Juliana), whom he adored He is also survived by his loving nieces, nephews and in-laws.James mad a yearly visit back home to Bolivar/Tone, Tennessee to spendtime with relatives and his childhood friends "The Andrews" family and many others, that was also a very important part of his life.Good Morning God By: Member Carolyn Szaqesh Good morning, God and thankyou for the glory of the sun...and thankyou for the health I have to getmy duty done.
