Irene H. Wright

ObituaryIrene Wright was born February 14, 1935 to the late Willie Griffin, Sr. And Sallie L. Griffin. She confessed a belief in Christ at an early age at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, Moro, Arkansas. The Lord called for transition to the highest heavens on Monday, July 30, 2012 at 11 :25 P.M. at age 77. In 1958, she united in Holy Matrimony to D.A. 'Henry' Wright who preceded her death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Willie Sr. and Sallie Lou Griffin; five sisters, Betty Joe Griffin, Lenora Morris, Faye Palmer, Rosie Marie Williamson, Lillian Buckley and one brother, Willie Griffin, Jr. Irene moved to St. Louis, Missouri in 1964 and was a head cook for Fritz Restaurant for over 10 years. Her special hobbies included cooking, gardening and traveling to see her siblings. "Spud" leaves to cherish her memories: two children, Carelene (Victor) Hammond and Steven Griffin, Sr. of St. Louis, Missouri; four grandchildren, Deidra (Demond) Stevenson, Stephanie (Marques) Griffin-Griffin of China, Shevaughn (Ernest) Dorema of Texas and Steven Griffin, Jr. of St. Louis, Missouri; four great-grandchildren, Phillip (India) Tucker, Darrion Flemons of Granite City, Illinois, Elliott Dorema and Leilari Dorema both of Texas; one great-great-grandchild, Taylor Tucker of Granite City, Illinois; one brother, James 'Boyman' (Jean) Griffin of Kansas City, Missouri; six sisters, Henrietta (Jeff) Tucker of Moro, Arkan- sas, Mararet (Douglas) Fleming and Evadine Stevens both of Kansas City, Missouri, Delores (Cleophus) Carter, Mary (Marion) Mabry of Chicago, Illinois and Claudine Brownlee of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; and many beloved nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. She was known as everyone's favorite aunt. Interment:Lake Charles Cemetery7775 St. Charles Rock RoadOverland, MO 63114 .
