THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF A PHENOMENAL WOMAN MOTHER HATTIE MAE SAUNDERS (HATTIE PATTIE) LIFE REFLECTIONS It was in the year 1925 and specifically March 13 when Tommie Ward Crutchfield and Emerson Crutchfield, Sr. welcomed into this world a beautiful baby girl who they named Hattie Mae. Mother Hattie served at Parks Chapel A.M.E. Church with reverence to God and dignity. The Rt. Rev. John Richard Bryant was the Presiding Prelate of the 5th Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Before Mother Hattie's Consecration, Bishop Bryant stated: "The Deaconess greatest work is to pray for the church, pastor and members of the local church. If the pastor has a good Deaconess, they will share prayer concerns and be willing to go before the Lord. Where there is conflict in the church, the Deaconess will go before the Lord in prayer and continue until that situation works its way out." Mother Hattie was a season~d prayer warrior and an intercessor for her church and the Conference. Through Mother Hattie's prayers, healing will take place. Prior to her consecration, Mother Hattie served in every aspect of the church with the Joy ofthe Lord. She served as a Steward, Seasoned Saints Organization (Church Grandmothers), Stewardess, and she was proud to be a Missionary. She received and was crowned a)ewel in the Missouri Conference Women's Missionary Society of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She took seriously the ministry of missions. Hattie prepared the Lord's Table each 1't Sunday. With the deepest of reverence to God, Mother Hattie served with humility, love, and an unending desire to be the best she could be for the Lord. She took her ministry seriously, and was able to teach others the importance of service and the preparation of the Altar. God called Hattie home on May 30, 2011 where she was welcomed with open arms and great excitement by her mother, father, brothers and sister, baby, and many other family members and friends. She leaves to cherish her memory: Patricia Jackson, Scott Jackson, Christine and Ricky Nelson, Reverend Patricia Talton, William Talton, Shirley Jones, Catherine Davis, Beth and John Hartwig, Alisa Jones, Ernestyne Brown, Dorothy Powell, Parks Chapel A.M.E. So as we say good night to Hattie Mae Saunders, know that she fought a good fight, she finished the course and she kept the faith. God has a place prepared for her in His Kingdom. To God be the Glory! .
