Gertrude Christine Holmes

Life's Reflections Gertrude (Gert) Holmes was born June 29, 1940 to Orlando and Flora Holmes. She was the third of eight children, six of whom preceded her in death, Nathaniel, Juanita, Orlando Jr., Dorothy Mae, Kenneth and Evelyn. Her parents and son, Dennis also preceded her in death. Gert, received her education in the Webster Groves School District. She accepted Christ at an early age. She later joined Old Community Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Eric Hayes. Gert referred to herself as a very happy and joyous person. To know her you couldn't help but to love her. Her love was genuine and pure. She was everyone's "Granny Gert". She loved family, her dog Lola and especially her great-grandchildren. They kept her busy and she enjoyed every moment of it. She leaves to cherish her memories: her life long partner, Odell Bennett; her children, Donna and Odell; her brother, Clarence (Roshall); sister-in-law, Lamarrill Holmes; her grand-children, Michael (Shawmonee), Michelle, Denisha, Mariah, and Lauren; great-grandchildren, Kailyn, Michael Jr. and Mckenzie; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She wanted her entire family to know that She loves ALL of you. Love Love Love Don't grieve for me, from pain I'm free I'm following the path God has laid, you see.
