Life ReflectionsGeorgia Garner was born on June 3, 1937. Her parents, George and Helen McGee, anticipated a boy but adapted to accommodate the girl they received. Georgia was the oldest of eight. From an early age she helped with raising her siblings serving as a second mother for some. It was a role she continued to flourish in as she became a mother, aunt, grandmother, great aunt, and great grandmother. Her love was endless. In a previous marriage Georgia was blessed with her oldest son, Marshall Barnett, Jr. Her marriage to Harold Garner on March 11, 1962 later blessed her with three additional children - Charles Raymond Garner, Diane Denise Garner, and Steven Harold Garner. Unfortunately there was one child, Cornell Garner, born with a hole in his heart: While loved, his death was hard for both Harold and Georgia. Despite the loss it did not impede on Georgia's ability to love and take care of others. Georgia's life was one of service. From the family she raised to her choice in career. She was a graduate of Vashon High School and took courses at Forest Park Community College to further her education. She began work as a nurse, learning from the nuns at St. John's Mercy Hospital, before later taking her talents to Christian NE where she worked for nearly 40 years before retiring. It was through Christian NE that she returned to school, received her bachelors from Maryville University, and taught the professors from the experience she garnered by being in the field. Her retirement from working was short lived as Georgia was not one to sit still. She took her experience to the Department of Mental Health at the Northwest Habilitation Center where she served as the head RN for five years before retiring due to injuries sustained in an accident. In her retirement Georgia excelled in what she knew best: Babies. Her home was an impromptu daycare and the only pay-ment she ever cared for came in the form of soiled diapers, sneaking bottles, and afternoon naps centered on the time her stories were set to be on. She loved kids and they loved her in return. They loved her so much many called her house home and rejected the notion of ever having to leave. Georgia spoiled everyone and in her home kids were kings - with nicknames and songs to go along with it. In her lifetime Georgia had her hand in the upbringing of at least four generations. She touched many lives and it is through her actions that so many will be able to pass on what she taught through her life - selflessness, kindness, working hard, and many life lessons through her knack for sharing a funny story. And she had many of them. In her return home Georgia will be reunited with her parents and the siblings that preceded her: Marvin, Louis, Sandra, and Mildred. Georgia leaves behind to watch over: her husband and children; her surviving siblings: Robert James McGee, Sr., Betty Maclin, and Marian McGee; her nieces and nephews - Jeff, June, Cynthia, Brittany, Michael Jr., Robert fir., Keith, Eric, George, and Raymond; her grandchildren -- Daneisha, Lil Steve, Stefni, Antoine, Necie, Dayadra, Kelvin, Jessica, and Denise; her great grandchildren - Jaylen, Camya, Dorian') Jr., Justice, David, Keziah, Kodi, Karen, Stanley, Bailey, Brittany, Briera, Manna, and Xavier; as well as a plethora of additional family and friends that have the honor of carrying on her memory.
