Garth Riggins

April 12, 1915 — June 3, 2011

Born David Lee Sisk (AKA Garth Riggins) on April 12, 1915 to Mary Sisk and Edward Adams, in f1anson, KY. Both of his parents preceded him in death. After his mother's death he moved in with his mother's twin sister, Lyser and her husband, Mr. Riggins who lived in Sparta, IL. There he attended school until Mr. Riggins passed away. f1e then moved to St. Louis, MO to live with his Uncle Minor. At thirteen he had to quit school to go to work, doing odd jobs. Visiting family members in S. Kinloch, MO, he met and later married Alfred Jackson. To that union three daughters were born. Garth raised her only son as his own also. He later enlisted into the U.S. Military for three years. After getting out he started working for f1ereford Concrete Company where he was employed for 23 years. In 1969, he moved to Oakland, CA and hired on at the US Postal Service, where he retired after 17 years. In 2010, his daughter, Eileen and his grandson, Andre' moved him back to St. Louis, MO where he lived with Eileen until he went into the hospital. He was full of worldly wisdom, witty encouragement . Me loved to tell stories and jokes. Telling the kids to always read. Me loved the horses and playing cards (poker). During his younger years he was a good left handed pitcher, and he really loved to go and watch the baseball games. He departed this life on June 3, 2011 after a very short illness. Me was preceded in death by his wife, son Fierce Jackson, 2 daughters-in-law, 2 sons-in-law, 1 grandson, 1 granddaughter, 2 great-grandsons, 2 great-granddaughters, 3 sisters, 2 brothers, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters-in-law. He leaves to cherish his loving memory: 3 daughters, Mary (V. Jesse) Dickens of St. Louis, MO, Joanna Jackson of Oakland, CA and Eileen Stephen of St. Louis, MO: 13 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 32 great-greatgrandchildren, and 7 great-great-great-grandchildren: foster daughter, Margaret (Peggy) Powell: great-greatgrandson, Dominic (Nick), who brought him great joy. and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Interment -J.B. National Cemetery2900 SheridanSt. Louis, Mo 63126 .
