Fred Douglas Jones, Jr.

"Obituary" Fred Douglas Jones, Jr., was born on February 16, 1936 in Greenfield, Tennessee. He was the first born to the union of Ella Rebecca Ward Jones and Fred Douglas Jones, Sr., who both preceded him in death. Freddie received his education in the Webster Groves School System, graduating from Douglas High School. After High School Fred enlisted in the United States Air Force. In the mid 1960's Fred owned and operated an Import/Export Company located in the Railway Exchange Building in St. Louis, MO. In the 1960's and 1970's Fred was a member of C.O.R.E. and the NAACP and was active in local and national civil rights marches and demonstrations. Fred later moved to Chicago, Illinois where he worked for IBM in Chicago and Connecticut as a Trainer and Motivational Speaker. In St. Louis in the 1980's Fred opened Freddie's Leather Care and Shoe Repair located in the east end of The Delmar Loop. In the 1990's and beyond Fred was a technical adviser in the development of leather shoe repair business in the region. Freddie departed this life on Tuesday, February 3, 2015. He leaves to cherish his memory: sisters, Jeanette Jones of Poenix, AZ, Carolyn Holliday of St. Louis, MO. Ella Clement of Kansas City, MO, Rachel Tyler of Phoenix, AZ, Christine Nelson (Rick) of St. Louis, MO; brother Jerry Jones (Rita) of St. Louis, MO; good friend, Mike Werner of St. Louis, MO; and a host of nieces and nephews, friends and acquaintances. Brothers, Michael Jones and Ward Ellis Jones, both of St. Louis, MO, preceded him in death. Interment: J.B. National Cemetery 2900 Sheridan St.Louis, MO 63126 .
