LIFE REFLECTION FLOYD VALENTINE COBB The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalms 23 Floyd Valentine Cobb, the third offive children, born to the late Wilson Robert Cobb and Gladys Louise Stewart on February 14, 1938 in Robertson, Missouri. He was reared by his loving parents and accepted God early in life in the Catholic Church. Floyd was baptized at St. Peters Claver Catholic Church in Robertson, MO where he served as an altar boy and spent the earlier years of his life growing up. At the age of eighteen, he moved to Los Angeles, California. He received his elementary and secondary education in St. Louis County, where he attended Fairmont Elementary School in Robertson, MO and Douglas High School in Webster Groves, MO. Floyd attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA where he met Jo-Ann Posey. They were united in Holy Matrimony in 1961 and four children were born to this union: Sonsiere Cobb Souza, Frederick, MD; Sherie Cobb, Conyers, GA; Shera Cobb, Sugar Hill, GA; and Sheldon Cobb, Dunwoody, GA. In 1974, Floyd married Mercedes Jackson and they settled in Black Jack, MO. One child was born to this union Anthony Maurice Cobb, Baton Rouge, LA. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree in business at the Saint Louis University. In the I 970s, he worked as a senior accountant and comptroller for health care organizations and insurance companies. In the early 1980s, he taught accounting at Florissant Valley Community College and inspired others with his love of numbers and the business of audits. As an accountant, Floyd worked over a span of some 40 years in Los Angeles, CA, St. Louis, MO, Memphis, TN and Greenville, MS. While living in St. Louis, Floyd was a member of the St. Louis chapter of the Southern University Alumni Association, the St. Louis Black Accountants Association, and a member of the 4th Sunday usher board at Antioch Baptist Church. Among his many accomplishments of which he cherished, Floyd Valentine Cobb was most proud of his family, having an active church membership, and playing his saxophone for all to hear. Floyd was called home Monday, April 16,2012. In addition to his surviving children, he leaves to cherish his memory and mourn his passing two grandchildren, Monique Joel Wilhite Cobb and Erica Patrice Souza, one brother David (Hameeda) Abdullah, one sister Mary Ann Cobb-Randle and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, godchild, and friends. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Thomas Walker, Wilson R. Cobb, James Cobb, and sister Geneva Walker. Interment -St. Mary's Cemetery5150 Fee Fee RoadHazelwood, MO 63042 .
