Evang. Lorraine Jackson

December 8, 1936 — November 28, 2017

Life ReflectionsLorraine Gregory Jackson was born on December 8, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Willis and Elsie May Gregory. She was the seventh of eight children_ She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brothers: Willis Jr., Wise, Wilbert, Elmer, Leonard, and Lawrence. She is survived by her loving sister Rebecca Hughes. Mother Lorraine's primary education began at Simmons Elementary School and later she attended Sumner High School. Lorraine met Arthur Jackson in elementary. school and became friends while growing up. It was after Arthur returned from serving in the military that they joined in holy matrimony. This union produced nine children, Valerie Ciacki), Sheila (Rodney), Arthur Jr. (Sue), Toni (William), Michael (Marcia), Barry (Leslie), Christine (Wayne), Rhonda (Marcus). and Donna (Ronald John). Mother Loraine was saved at an early age in the Church of God in Christ (COGIC). She and her siblings sang with their mom in a group, known as the "Gregory Singers". Although she loved God, she experienced some dark and low points in her life. But God was always watching over. She was reclaimed and delivered in a Holy Ghost tent service. She joined Brotherly Love COGIC, under the direction of Pastor Willie R. Mcrviiller_ After completing her service there, God lead her to Kossuth Temple COGIC to serve wider the leadership of Bishop Robert D. Strong.Mother Lorraine loved serving God by ministering to others_ She ministered by visiting those in nursing homes, witnessing to people on the streets, running all night shut-ins, starting a church prison ministry, and coordinating bible studies in her residential buildings. She had a special calling to those suffering from drug addiction and alcoholism. On many occasions, she would give them clothing and/or food and bring them to church. In the church, she taught Sunday School classes, was a member of the intercessory prayer team, and was a licensed Evangelist Missionary in the Eastern Missouri First Jurisdiction Women's Department. Her family and friends remember her not only as a holy God-fearing woman who was not afraid to speak the truth, but also as an energetic person that loved to laugh and have fun. She loved playing the guitar, singing with her siblings, and challenging her children to a game of Chinese Checkers; she enjoyed being competitive and having fun. Unexpectedly, but by divine providence, on Tuesday evening November 28th, 2017, God welcomed Mother Lorraine home to glory. We celebrate a servant and soldier who had completed her service. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Evangelist Lorraine will be fondly and lovingly remembered by her loving husband Arthur Jackson, her sister Rebecca Hughes, nine children, fifteen grandchildren. nine great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
