Eva Lee Jones

Life Reflection Eva Lee Jones, a woman of excellence ana class (a lady of many hats), was born as Eva Lee to the late Reverend Berle and Sarah Lee in Bolton, MS, Hinds County on June 19, 1910. She was the fifth of six children, Ada (Eddie), Harvey (Mae Willie), Laura (Joe Nathan), Porterfield (Lucille) and Emma (Mr. Harris) who all preceded her in death Eva grew up with her father, step mother and siblings in Hinds County where she attended public school. At an early age she confessed her love for Christ and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior under the pastoral ship of her Methodist father. While living in the Mississippi Delta she later met and married Dee Jones. To this union eleven children were born. Early in their marriage Eva was introduced to holiness and received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Together they raised their eleven children in the fear and admonition of the Lord, training them musically in both instruments and vocals as they accompanied their parents to various preaching engagements. From that foundation many entrepreneurs, administrators, educators, health care facilitators, mechanics, military service people, ministers, missionaries, musicians, and singers now exit. Preceding her in death were: her husband, Dee Jones, Sr., 3 sons, Berle Jones, Dee Jones, Jr., and Joe Louis Jones, 2 daughters, Katherine Jones, Betty Allen, 1 son-in-law, Ed Lee Brown, 6 grandchildren, Diane Edwards, DeWayne Jones, Michelle Edwards, Sam Jones, Michael Edwards, Peggy McCain, 5 great-grand- children, Ernest Burr, Jr., Janiya Edwards, Jerome Allen, and Nigel Weekly. Eva Lee was a homemaker, and entrepreneur; very early on she was a school teacher. As a union their endeavors included their own church, a restaurant, barber shop, candy store, auto shop and clothing store. During the early years of their marriage they traveled throughout the county finally settling in St. Louis, MO in 1955. Eva Lee Jones joined Elder Harris Balls congregation. She later joined Martin Temple Memorial C.O.G.I.c. under the leadership of Pastor W.H. Martin until his passing. She remained there under the leadership of Pastor Joseph Martin where she served as missionary, senior mother, prayer warrior, president of the Prayer and Bible Band, for twenty-five years.
