Elmodist A. Ivie

August 12, 1936 — August 10, 2019

Life Reflections Elmodist Ivie, Jr. was born August 12, 1936 at Saint Mary's Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri.Known as "Al" or "Junior" to those closest to him, he was the only child born to Ruth and Elmodist Ivie, Sr. The family later moved to Webster Groves, Missouri where Al attended public school at Douglass High School. He was a neat and quiet young boy who loved dogs, enjoyed art, and proved to be a fine student, as he excelled throughout his years in school. After briefly serving in the Navy, Al relocated to be near his father in Los Angeles, California, where he spent time working in automobile manufacturing. It was there that he fell in love with cars - his affinity only growing over the years with each vehicle he owned. He eventually departed California, returning home to Kirkwood, Missouri where he became an avid motorcyclist and bike enthusiast. Al, or "June as most of his friends called him, was affiliated with Kirkwood's Crown Royal Motorcycle Club. Al's passion for riding led him to win the prize for the 'longest bike ride' after traveling, nearly 2,000 miles by motorcycle from Los Angeles to Meacham Park. "You go Al!" June continued to engage in his community, as he maintained a long-standing membership at Unity United Methodist Church - Where he followed in the footsteps of his mother - proudly serving as a faithful usher. After a vibrant and impeccably dressed 82 years of life, Al went to be with the Lord just two days shy or his 83rd birthday - a special date of birth which he miraculously shared with his younger sister, Cynthia.
