Elmer Bell Jr.

January 16, 1932 — January 25, 2020

Life Reflections:Elmer Bell, Jr. made his entry into this world on January 16, 1932. He was the seventh of ninechildren in a wholesome, God-loving, and fun-loving family, led by his father and namesakeReverend Elmer Bell, Sr. and his mother Gertrude Prayer Bell. During those years the familylived in an area of St. Louis known as Petersville, or more fondly referenced as "The Ville."Elmer would often share heartwarming stories of the close bonds he made with friends growing up in "The Ville." If you ever had the opportunity to converse with Elmer, you would hear the word, "I remember when..." from a humble and soft-spoken man who had such a vast amount of lifeexperiences. The manner in which he retold his many life experiences kept us all intrigued because of his attention to details. His memory for people, places, dates, experiences, and events was nothing short of remarkable. It seemed to is that he remembered every personhe met in life! He could look at a photo of any of his classmates, from kindergarten throughhigh school, and remember each of their names, as well as share a story that he recalled about each one of them. As a few of his Sumner High School classmates went on to become professionalsport players, he even kept up with their career statistics. He was an avid reader and loved sports and sports trivia. He also had a fondness for history and loved reading books about historical events. The phrase, "Ask Elmer. He'll know," became a standard response among his family and friends. Among his parents and eight siblings, Elmer is the last to make his transition and be reunited with them. His physical presence will be greatly missed by his two sons, his daughter-in-law, his two grand-daughters,his great-grandson, and a host of generational nieces and nephews, as well as friends who enjoyed hiscompany. And now it's our turn to pass on "his story" so that we can say, "We remember when... Interment: Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery2900 Sheridan Rd. St. Louis, MO 63125 .
