Job 1:21, KJV Mama's favorite scripture Elma Lee (King) Rodgers was the second child born to the union of Willie T. King and Norma Lee (West) King. She was born on February 20, 1928 in Palestine, Arkansas. Her parents and older sister, EJewel , preceded her in death. Elma and her family moved to Robertson, Missouri in 1940, she attended Fairmont Elementary School and Douglas High School . Elma confessed a belief in Christ at an early age and was baptized in 1943 by Reverend James Butler at The First Missionary Baptist Church of Robertson, MO. Elmajoined New Northside Baptist Church in 1961 under the leadership of Pastor Willie Ellis. Elma was a faithful member, serving on the Senior Usher Board, until her health began to decline. She loved her church and church family. Elma married Manual Weaver in 1944. To this union three sons were born, Emanual (Catherine), Willie (Brenda), and Terry (Lena). In 1953 she married Nathaniel Rodgers. To this union six children were born: Wendy, Nadine, Shirley, Nathaniel (Carla), and Lisa. Both Manual, Nathaniel , and Wendy preceded her in death. Elma worked for the General Services Administration as a matron. She wore a green uniform to work and was called "Green Grandma" by her oldest grandson, Darryl . She retired from the General Services in 1991. She was loved by her children, grandchildren, great - grandchildren, and those who knew her. Elma leaves to cherish her memory: eight children, twenty grandchildren, twenty-four great - grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Interment: St. Peters Cemetery St. Louis, MO 63121 .
