ObituaryEdwin Russell Givens was born November 11, 1927 as the eighth child of Russell and Anna Givens. A lifelong resident of Webster Groves, he accepted Christ early in his life and worshiped at Blackwell Chapel, and was educated at Douglas School before leaving Webster to serve in the United States Navy. While in the Navy, Eddie had the distinction of serving on the USS Wharton during Atomic Bomb testing in the Bikini islands. When Eddie returned to Webster Groves after his tour of duty he met his soul mate, Dorothy. They married December 30, 1952 and started their famiiy. Eddie was a tireless worker and worked multiple jobs to support his family. fie not only raised his six children, but he served as a surrogate father to a host of family and friends. Eddie was known by all who knew him as a funny, kind, and loving, yet firm man who demanded the best from all around him. Eddie's death was preceded by his son, Russell's death.
