Earnest was also known as "Clarkie", "Butch" and "Old Goat". Clarkie attended both Douglas Elementary and Douglas High School in Webster Groves, MO. lie played basketball for the Douglas Panthers (Purple & Gold). He worked and retired from Sculins Steel Company in St. Louis, MO. In 1955 he married Naomi Easter (who preceded him in death). They had three sons Reuban, Ernest and Michael. He attended Blackwell Chapel AME Zion Church and later joined Fellowship Temple Christian Church and was recently baptized by his Pastor, Sheldon W. Johnston (his nephew). He leaves to cherish his memory: two sisters, Donna Martin and Yvette Gage (John); also two brothers, R. Douglas (Diane) and Alvin (JoAnn) Barrett; three sons, Reuban, Earnest (Carolyn) and Michael; four grandchildren, Doretta, Terry, Reuban, Jr. and Natosha; five greatgrandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, seven nephews, eight nieces and a host of cousins and friends.
