His Life Earl Leon McCree was the fourth-born child to the union of Carl and Nancy McCree on the 7th day of August, 1930. Two brothers, his mother, and his father predeceased him. When he was three (3) years old, Earl was diagnosed with double pneumonia. God showere his grace on Earl and let hime live. Earl then confessed his hope in Christ and was dedicated to the concept of living a Christian life. Earl was educated in the Webster Groves School District and graduated from Douglass High School in 1948. He was a sportsman and was awarded an athletic scholarship to Xavier University student there. He also pledged into the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, and remained active until he graduated from Xavier in 1952. After graduation, Earl went to play professional ball in the Negro Baseball League, for the Kansas City Monarchs. In October of 1952, Earl was drafted by the United States Amry. After basic training, Earl was sent to Europe and was stationed in Essex, England. He spent the next 18 months in England, France, and Germany. After serving two years in the military, he was honorably discharged and came back home to work as a teacher at Douglass High School. Shortly thereafter, Earl was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates and sent to the Minor League, where he was a pitcher until an injury to his pitching arm caused him to retire from professional baseball. Earl married Vivian North Moore in May of 19556, and became father to two sons, Clarence and David, and a daughter Angie. A family man who loved to travel and make friends, Earl and Vivian forged a bond that tightened with every passing year. This man was not afraid to work. With two young sons, he became and Indian Guide Leader, a Cub Scout Leader, and a Boy Scout Leader. Earl also wore many caps in the workforce, but loved teaching and helping people. He began working at Lakeside Center for Boys in Creve Coeur, and had found his niche. As a part of Special School District, Earl embraced the opportunity to help his Masters Degree in Special Education from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Illinois. He worked at Lakeside for 17 years before moving to Dielman School in Olivette, which is where he retired from. Even after retirement, Earl continued to work with young people, and volunteered at Saint Louis ARC, promoting the golf program at Paradise Valley in Fenton, Missouri. To cherish his memories, Earl leaves a loving and devoted wife, Vivian; two sons, Clarence(Kyna) and David (Kay); one daughter Angie; two grandsons, Kevin (Michelle) and Jon-Ryan; five granddaughters, Erin (Jamie); Aminah, Karah Caitlin and Chandler; two great grandchildren, Jocelyn and Lil' Kev; one sister, Edith; two brothers, Edward (Lenora) and Kenneth (Peggy); two special aunts, Sarah Lee and Frances North; numerous extra children, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
