Life Reflections Our beloved father went to rest on February 28, 2018. Durward Sigmund Jones (Dewey) was born in 1925 to Swan and Raymond Jones. His family lived in Webster Groves, MO. tie was the fourth of six children all of whom preceded him in death. When Dewey became an adult, he was drafted into the army. He took his training at Fort Leavenworth Kansas in October 1945. From there he was sent to New York to the West Point Military Academy in February 13, 1946. During this time in history the army was deactivating the calvary and he was assigned to stable duty to care for the horses. Once his tour ended, he returned to his hometown and not long after met Ruth Powell. They married in 1954 and together they raised seven children. Dewey came to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ in adulthood and was a faithful member of his church. He held various jobs within his lifetime; However, he spent the bulk of his career in the U.S. Post Office in downtown St. Louis, where he retired in the mid 80's. His family has fond memories of Dewey's love for reading, cooking, baking, playing his guitar, going swimming, fixing things, taking care of his lawn and enjoying his grandchildren. Having grown up during the depression and before the civil rights movement, he often told stories of working as a child laborer and people of color having to use separate facilities. He leaves to cherish his loving memory: six children, Michael Jones, Tamara Booker, Candace Hagy (Greg), Janeen Wiggins (Charles), and Marteana Davidson (Kendall), Donna Lacy (Gene); fifteen grandchildren, Justin (Kendra), Garai Jordan (Ashlie), Shawn, Melanie, Michael Jr. (Danielle), Marvin, Alex, Kiara, Nyla, Miley, Evan, Kendall Jr, Madison and Mason; eight great-grandchildren, Nyah, David, Jayla, Jaylen, Aaliyah, Skyler, Zoey, Elijah and Vera; and a host of extended family and friends.
