The ObituaryDorris Evva Simon was the oldest daughter of six children born to Myrtle Davis, born on September 25, 1931 in Troy, Missouri. Dorris was educated in the St. Louis County school system of Webster Groves. She attended Douglass elementary school. her activities at Douglass were singing in the choir and participating in the majorettes. She graduated from Douglass High in June of 1949. She worked at the Miriam School in Rock Hill. Missouri, saved her money, and decided to move to New York City in 1951. She later met and married Roger Simon who preceded her in death. Dorris furthered her education while in NewYorkandworkedasacomputer analystforthecityofNew York planning department, retiring in 2000. Dorris accepted Christ at an early age. Shortly after establishing her life in New York City she joined Convent Avenue Baptist Church in Itarlem. She was an active member in Convent in many of their ministries and remained an active member until her death. Dorris loved life, worked hard and achieved whatever she set her mind to do. She traveled all over the world, and loved and supported her family above all costs. Also preceded her in death are her parents, rlarold and Myrtle Davis, a sister, Anita Davis Marsh and a brother, Stephen E. Davis. She leaves to mourn: two sisters, Kaye E. Joseph, and Linda A. Davis, one brother, Durward Clark Davis all of St. Louis, Missouri, a special cousin, Constance M. Clark of New York City, who watched over her like a mother hen, a longtime close friend, Bernice Bowmen, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, great, and great-great, as well as many other close family members and friends.
