Life Reflections Dorothy Lucille (Reed) Redmond, was the sixteenth of seventeen children born to the union of Artie D. Reed, Sr. and Velma V. (Body) Reed on February 2, 1933. She was preceded in death by her parents, fifteen of her siblings and her grandchild, Saleena. Dorothy was educated in the St. Louis Public Schools graduating from Charles H. Sumner High School in the Class of 1951.Dorothy accepted Christ at an early age at Central Baptist Church where she continued her family's legacy. She has been a member of Central for 75 years.Dorothy entered into holy matrimony with Ellison (Mannie) L. Redmond on August 2, 1952. To this union six children were born, Lettie, Ella, Sabrina, Cynthia, Darryl and Kevin. Her lifelong soulmate of 68 years passed away on November 21, 2020.Besides being a homemaker and nurturing mother, Dorothy held various jobs supporting her husband to provide for the family. She retired from Monsanto in 1986. Dorothy was extremely creative, an ex-cellent seam-stress, hat maker and an artist when it came to her crocheting master-pieces. She also enjoyed bowling and was in many leagues.Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory: six children, Lettie, Ella, Sabrina, Cynthia (James), Darryl (Evelyne) and Kevin; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, William Reed, Sr. (Sue); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends for whom she held a special place in their hearts.
