Dorothy M. Clark was born on September 29, 1928 in the City of Meridian, County of Lauderdale, State of Mississippi. She was the eldest of six children born to Queen Esther Spears and Otis Pruitt. Dorothy accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Mallalieu United Methodist Church, Meridian, Mississippi. She graduated from The Baptist Seminary school in Meridian, Mississippi.
Dorothy united in Holy Matrimony to Samuel Clark on August 11, 1949 and to this union five children were born. In 1955 the family moved to Henderson, Kentucky and she joined First Baptist Church under Rev. T.R. Brown. In 1959, seeking a more prosperous life the family moved to Kirkwood, Missouri and joined the Harrison Avenue Missionary Baptist Church 1959 under the pastorage of Rev. C. L. Wells. She was truly a committed church member and was active with the Willing Workers, Mission, Sunday School, Deaconess, Baptist Training Union, Usher Board, Pastors Aid and Church Women United.
Dorothy was a loving, devoted wife and an outstanding mother. She taught school in DeKalb, Mississippi and Special School District classes through Maplewood Richmond Heights School District. She loved bowling and every member of the family also took up the sport. She continued until her health would not let her. One of her favorite past times was knitting and crocheting and to this day every member of her family has an afghan hand made by her. All the grands got one when they were born.
Dorothy was the last sibling and she entered the eternal life on December 5, 2025 with her family by her side. When she reached the other shore, she was greeted by her husband Samuel Clark, three children Rose Mary Clark, Sharron Clark White, and Samuel Clark Jr.; her parents Queen Esther and Otis Pruitt Sr. siblings, Betty Dyess (C. W. Dyess) Otis Pruitt, Jr: (Cora), Leroy Pruitt (Diane), Raymond Pruitt (Hattie Mae) and Eloise A. Moffite and Lawrence Curry (Pearl).
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory two dedicated Daughters, Gloria Austin Nickerson Jones and Sandra Crenshaw both of St. Louis, Missouri; Two Sons-In-Love. Melvin White and Mike Jones; One Brother-In-Love, Carter Leon Cole (Sue); Grandchildren, Edgar L. Austin Jr., Tiffany White Adkins (Anthony), Justin J. White (Veronica), Charles P. Crenshaw III (Rashelle), Ryan L. Crenshaw (Crystal), Nicole White; Great Grandchildren Anthony Adkins Jr., Treasure Ruffin, Trenay and Tiara Adkins, Jhustice Wilkens, Raven Crenshaw, Jaece White, Orion Crenshaw, Ryan Crenshaw, Jr.; God son Clark Watson, Jr., and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
