Delores Katheryn Skinner

Life Reflections Delores Skinner was born in St. Louis, MO on August 18, 1934, to Clarence and Lillian Lee. Both parents preceded her in death. Delores was one of nine children, Virginia, Henrietta, Lillian, Alice, Arthur, Clarence, Edward, and Kenneth. She attend-ed Douglas High School. After graduation, she worked at Maryville College as a pastry cook for many years. Delores babysat for several families, but mostly worked in her home. Delores met her husband, Delvia Skinner, and they were united in holy matrimony. Their marriage stood the test of time for 56 years until his death in 2009. From that union there were four children, Deborah (Joseph) Burnett, Derrick Skinner, Darwin Skinner and Donna Bennett. Delores' son, Darwin, preceded her in death. She also helped raise her husband's two daughters from a previous marriage, Fabian (Johnny) Parker and Delvina (Antonio) Bates. Delores was born and raised in the church of God in Christ where she was baptized and accepted Christ at a very early age. She was a member of the Brentwood Church of God in Christ. Later, she became a member of Gospel Temple COGIC under Pastor Melvin Moore, and then Douglas Memorial where she was member until the death of Pastor Eugene Jones. In recent years, Delores fellowshipped along with her daughter, Donna, at Lively Stone Church of God. Delores was well-known in the Richmond Heights community. She had many friends and family in St. Louis. She loved everyone and did not judge, but loved all. Delores would take people off the street and allow them to live with her for years. Her doors were always open and she would do whatever she could to help anyone. Delores was a very talented artist. She loved to draw and paint. She loved flowers and grew lots of beautiful plants that she kept in her home. Delores was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Delores was called to eternal rest on December 7, 2015. She will be missed by all who knew her. Delores leaves to cherish fond memories her daughters, Deborah and Donna; son, Derrick; sisters, Henrietta, Lillian and Alice; brothers, Edward and Kenneth; three grandchildren, Derrick, Jr., Jordan and Myles; one great grandchild, Christian; and many cousins, nephews and nieces.
