David Lowell Thomas

David Lowell Thomas was born October 7, 1953 in St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Lewis Thomas and Florine Marie Thomas. Preceding him in death from Flesh to spirit are his parents and his brother, Lewi Karlee Thomas and his beloved wife, Mary Helen Thomas.


David attended Plymouth Junior High and graduated from Webster Nigh in St. Louis, Missouri. He then enlisted in the Armed Forces of the United States of America where he served as a Corporal and Sharp Shooter before he was Honorably discharged on 21st day of August 1974.


David L. Thomas was united in Holy Matrimony to Mary Helen Cooley on June 10, 1978 and to that union David and Mary Helen helped raise Relaun (Re'nya, Chloe and Kaymira) and Emmanuel Jones. David and Mary Helen have been together for 47 years and married 42 years.


David worked at the St. Louis County Juvenile Detention Center in Clayton, MO for several years, after that he served as a Government Police Officer, lastly, he worked at the Department of Homeland Security where he retired.


David loved to talk about the times he served his country in the military, he spoke of his time in Germany. He often spoke about the time when he rode his tank in the procession. for President Truman's funeral. David was "The Grill Master". He smoked and fried turkeys, as well as smoked Briskets. family gatherings were special at their house. David, also loved as Uncle David, would tell the best jokes and would laugh out loud at his own jokes, which would make the best family gatherings.


David Lowell Thomas transitioned on November 27, 2022 at DePaul Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.


He leaves to cherish his memory: his only sister, Frances Juanita Mahone; the children he helped raise, Relaun Jones (Re'nya, Chloe and Kaymira) and Emmanuel Jones. His sisters and brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
