Craig Everett Elazer

November 2, 1963 — September 1, 2020

Life Reflections Craig Everett Elazer was born November 2, 1963, to Thomas and Lillie Mae Elazer, who bothpre-ceded him in death. When he was born, his family lived in Richmond Heights, MO, but later moved to University City. Craig attended, Greensfelder Elementary School, Brittany Junior High School and University City High School, all located in the University City public school district, but opted to get a GED. He learned the love of fishing from his mother. He would get the biggest kick out of reeling in a bigone. He wastruly at peace and happy when he was on the fish bank with a hook in the water. Craig married Millicent Crawford and her 2 year old daughter Shatia. He and Millicent, later had a son Craig Everett Elazer II. He worked many types of jobs in his lifetime. He worked as an airline reservationist, busboy, forklift operator, factory worker, landscaper, the list goes on. He even workedwith the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus. He's probably the only person you'll ever know personally, that was bitten by a tiger! His hand slipped inside the cage while trying to move it. He requiredstitches, but didn't lose any fingers! Craig was the type of person that every one really loved. He had a great smile, a gentle spirit about him andwas always willing to help. He also had a huge sense of humor. One of our cousin's made the comment, "At thenext family reunion, we'll all sit around and everyone can tell a Craig story!" It's a guarantee, everyone will have one and we'll all be cracking up. He was a genuinely, good person, but he was an addict. His addiction told him, I can make you feel more accepted, I can make you feel alright, I can make you feel more worthy, I can makeyou feel normal, I can make you feel more loved, I can make you feel nothing and make you feel everything. What it didn't tell him was how it would devastate his family, make him homeless, cause himto beg for money on the street, take his freedom, his sparkle and smile, how it would take his humor, his good looks, his health and how it would take and take and take until it took his life! So many times; he tried to kick his addiction. He went into rehab more times than you can count. But, he never, ever gave up seeking sobriety. This was found among his personal writings: "I have, or am coming to believe in a Higher Power. I know this because I now recognize when He is working in my life. I also recognize thatHe has been there all along, but until I honestly and whole heartedly sought Him, I couldn't see what He was do-ing in my life. " Although,he did not attend church regularly, he was a believer! He was loved by his family and friends more than he'll every know and will be greatly missed. Craig leaves to mourn his passing, a son, Craig, E.
