Obituary BILLY PHILLIP REID was born July 27, 1940 in Griffin, Georgia to Lula Mae Reid and Emmett Reid, Sr. His family moved to Alcoa, Tennessee where Billy attended Charles M. Hall High School. At an early age, Billy accepted Jesus Christ and united with Bethel Baptist Church where he was baptized. Billy moved to Newark, New Jersey in 1970. There he met and married Dorothy. Later they relocated to St. Louis, MO where they united with the First Missionary Baptist Church of Robertson under the leadership of Pastor Robert S. Johnson. Billy was an active and faithful Deacon for many years. Later he united with Faith Deliverance Pentecostal Church, where he served as a Deacon until his health started to fail. Billy traveled to South Africa for two summers as a missionary and was so proud of his part in the souls that were saved and baptized. He preached the Word of God wherever he went and people listened and respected his faithfulness. Billy loved the Lord, his wife, and his Church. He departed this life on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at DePaul Hospital. He leaves to cherish his memory: his faithful and devoted wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Rosetta Lavender, Latarsha Garcia; one son, Billy Thompson; two sisters, Mary Alice Waters of Kansas City, M 0, Keisha Tucker of Alcoa, TN; two brothers, Emmett Reid of Alcoa, TN, and Ben Reid (Ann) of Newark, NJ; three grandchildren, Vanessa, Michael and Vashaunti; one great-granddaughter, Fayth Gates; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Bulah Gates of Bessmer, AL; five sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law; his very special and devoted friends, Raymond and Lucile Reeves; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him. His mother, father, one brother and two sisters preceded him in death. "neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Acts 4:12 .
