The Shining Light Bennie Lee Babbitt, St., was born on July 6, 1932 in Shannon, Mississippi to the late Lucy Ashby Babbittand the late Robert Babbitt, Sr., of Shannon, Mississippi. Bennie Lee Babbitt, Sr., met and married Quanita Terrell. In this marriage four child were born. BennieLee Babbitt, Jr., Stanley Babbitt, Kendall Babbitt, and Cassandra Babbitt. His father and mother, Robert Babbitt, Sr., and Lucy Ashby Babbitt, three children, Stanley, Cassandra and Paul; five sibblings, James, Robert, Jr., Linnie, Amanda and Beatrice, all preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his love: his wife Gwendolyn Brown Babbitt; three children, Bennie Babbitt, Jr., of Tupelo,Mississippi, Kendall Babbitt (Theresa) of St. Louis, Natasha Ford-Davis (Norman) of St. Louis; ten grandchildren, CheleasaBabbitt, Christopher Babbitt, Christian Babbitt, Stanley Walker, Hernandez Walker, LaCresha Poke, Alexus Poke, Justin Cook, Rasheik Cole and Wilnea Williams. Six great-grandchildren, Christopher Babbitt, Jr., Aubree Meeks, Nakenzie Williams, Reianna Walker, Aniya Walker and Alexandria Walker.
