Life Reflection https://youtu.be/R3qmgXMm2DA Arvel Noel Parker was a Christmas present to his parents, Arvell "Fat" and Thelma "Tootsie" Parker, on December 24, 1940. He grew up on New York Street in Meacham Park and was known to all as "Gus". His parents, all three of his sisters, Beverly Jean Watkins, Carole DeniseRoyal and Betty Jo Parker and daughter, Karla Marie preceded him in death. Gus attended school at J. Milton Turner School and graduated from Kirkwood Senior High School in 1958. He was in one of the first classes to attend Kirkwood High. He always said, "you livedfor the days to go to Douglass" but he didn't get to go. Gus married Gloria Marlene Mosley on August 8, 1960. They have celebrated 61 years of marriage.Together, they raised five children in the close-knit community "down the hill" on CommerceAvenue. He loved to drive and they would take family vacations across the country. Each of their children were educated, entrepreneurs and understood the blessing of family. He loved his familyand we loved him! Gus was a hardworking man and went to work every day until he was unable to due to healthissues. He began his working career at his dad's service station, Parker's Service, on Big Bend and his own Parker's Hauling with the motto, "Have Truck Will Haul". Even while workingat Chrysler, Gus worked part time jobs including 9-0-5, Sears and J.C. Penney's automotivedepartment. After 27 years of service, Gus retired from Chrysler Corporation, UAW Local 136at the age of 50. Retirement did not last long as Gus began delivering for Ahrens & McCarronIncorporated. He loved pointing out places saying "I delivered there." Even though he wasn't physically able, he longed to go to work every day. Gus was a member of Meacham Park's Negro Republican Club with leader Joe Cole. He entered the Pride of the West Lodge #6, Kirkwood, MO in 1972. As his love for motorcyclesgrew, he moved away from the Masons. Gus was an original member of the Crown Royal's Motorcycle Club. When the Club had theirfirst meeting in 1975, he was there to join and remained a member for the 46 years of the club's existence. After serving as their first Vice President, Gus became treasurer in 1977 and served forover 20 years. He Toyed keeping up with the money, especially after their Annual weekend. After seeing the property on Memphis in 1988, Gus had a vision of what the clubhouse could be and theyworked tirelessly with the members to make it happen. He loved the Club and meeting his biker brothers all over the U.S. The club would pack up on Fridays and return on Sundays. Gus could be seen leading the pack down the highway. In the 80's, he received several club awards 2nd Place Most Miles Traveled by Motorcycle (1981), 2nd place Most Out of Town Functions Attended (1986), and 3rd Place Most Miles Traveled by Motorcycle (1986). Even after he could no longer drive, Gus had drivers taking him out of town to motorcycle events. Gus attended his fast club meeting September 12, 2021. His legacy in the club will continue to be carried on by his brother, sons, grandsons and nephews. He was a Crown Royal and Proud of It (CRAP01). Gus loved to ride his motorcycles and was a Lifetime Member of the American Motorcycle Association. He began with a Harley which boldly displayed his riding name "Super Star", thento a Kawasaki but found his best when he discovered the ride of a Gold Wing two wheels or three he loved that ride. When it took four wheels for him to go, he turned to the scooter. He was a real man and great provider for his family. He could fix most anything and would help most anybody. He enjoyed life to the fullest and loved for others to do so tool For a few years, he'd host a cookout in September just to enjoy seeing everyone have a good time. Gus suffered his first stroke in 1991 at the age of 51. He would suffer several others but would always bounce back and continue on his journey. On January 23, 1996, while making deliverieson the River Road in Illinois, he suffered the stroke that he would never fully recover from. Histenacity and God's plan would allow him to push through the strokes, hypertension, heart disease, cancer and all that came his way. Many close friends left him while his life continued on JamesBurney, Joe Cole, Kenny Evans, and Clifford Hawkins. Through it all, he never complained. It was another of life's lessons he taught us. Because his dad passed away at the age of 50, he had a concern that he would too. Gus departed this life on November 16, 2021 at the age of 80, surrounded by his family.
