Alice R. Sutfield-Davis

Obituary -Alice R. (Sutfield) Davisr daughter of the late Cidney and Sadie (Ross) Sutfieldr was born in Toledor Ohior June She passed away April L 2011 at 7:00 P.M. at DePaul NospitaL St. Louisr Missouri. Sher her mother and brothec Kermit returned to Claytonr Missouri when she was a child. She attended Attucks School in Clayton. Alice completed Elementary and Nigh School and Technical College. She moved to Kirkwoodr MO during 1955. She was united in marriage to the late Narold Willis Davis. Mrs. Davis was retired from a long career in the garment industry and was an excellent seamstress. She and her husband traveled extensivelYr she loved travelingr exploring and documenting her trips. She especially enjoyed Broadway Showsr gospeL jazz and classical music. She was a kind lady interested in the well-being of her family and people in generaL evidenced by her giving and assistance to innumerable persons and organizations. She was deeply engrossed in the African-American experience and history. She was an advocate of life long learningr believing education to be a paramount to the success of her people; all people. She stated she experienced the most joyfuL meaningful and important historical event of her lifetimer the inauguration of President Barack Obama. Mrs. Davis was a devoted member of The Narrison Avenue Baptist Church of Kirkwoodr MO. She loved her church and had been a member of the choir and served in other capacities. She supported her church faithfully and lovingly over the years. She is survived by: one stepdaughterr Ruby Davis; one step granddaughtec Bridgit Davis; three sistersr Elaine Moody (Curtis) of the state of Ohior Julia Jeffries and Lola Jackson of the state of Nevada; three brothersr Cidney Sutfieldr Koni Sutfield (Catherine) and Manning Sutfieldr of the state of Ohio; sisters-in-Iawr brothers-in-Iawr numerous nephewsr nieces and friends.
