ObituaryLife ReflectionsAlex Hill, Jr. was born July 26, 1944 to the late Alex Hill, Sr. and Julia Hill in Jonestown, Mississippi. . He was the youngest of two brothers, Sam Hill and Archie Hill and one sister Annie Mae Hill, all preceding him in death. He confessed his hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of the late Rev. Skipper at the New Hope Baptist Church in Jonestown, Mississippi. Alex loved to go to church. Alex was also a good worker. He worked on farms from Mississippi to Florida and up north to the Chicago areas. As a young man he traveled quite a bit, but he never lost touch with his family. Alex was a sharp dresser. He liked to "get clean" as he called it. He loved going to church and singing. He was always a big eater when it came to food. He would call his favorite nephew Vern and put his food order in. No matter what it was, he knew Vern would bring it and before the phone conversation ended, he'd say "and don't forget my Bitter Garrett Snuff and Chewing Tobacco". Although many women crossed his path, Alex never married. He was always know as "Uncle Alex" or "Jr." He leaves to cherish his memory a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends, but he would let everybody and anybody know his favorite Nephew was Verner Meeks.
