Life Reflection



Aaliyah La'Joyia Gillom was born on February 16, 2005, to the union of Demetrius Callon' and La'Joyia Patrice liurst of Saint Louis Missouri. She was the youngest of four children. She departed this life on May 7, 2023. (Her Sister); Aire'Onna Powers, (Two Grandmothers) Donna Matthews (Hanna), and Vickie Denise Hurst and (Her Great-grandmother); Joyce Parker preceded her in death.


Aaliyah received her education in the Hazelwood School district. She was a member of the Kinloch Church of God under the leadership of the late Pastor Hughie Ellison who was also her great uncle. She was baptized at a young age at Kinloch Church OF God along with her siblings. She attended Sunday School and sang in the children's Choir. Aaliyah participated in Easter, Black History and Christmas plays. She was quiet and shy at times but grew to be very outspoken as she grew older.


Aaliyah loved hanging out with her friends and family picnics. She loved to write music and rap. She was very- photogenic and loved expressing her emotions through photos and music. She was a very energetic fun and loving person to be around. No one could stay mad at her long. It kept positive energy going when in her presence. A sweet beautiful young woman who left a mark, along with a piece of her with everyone when she left US.


Aaliyah enjoyed family trips with her grandparents to Florida. She was crazy about her grandma Vickie as a toddler. If anyone got too close to them Aaliyah would scream loud and cry. She obtained a second family at Great Circle in Springfield Missouri. She had many dear friends and mentors. Her favorite color was red. She loved her red color hair styles. She loved being around her big sisters and tried to be just like them. She was close and loved her mother La'Joyia and her two brothers very much. She resided with her sister Bre'Orma who loved and took care of her.


Aaliyah leaves to cherish her memory; (Her Mother) La'Joyia Patrice Gillom, (Her Father); Demetrius Gillom; Her Sisters) BreiOnna Gillom, Jalisa, BriAnna; (Her two brothers); Damarion Gillom; Demetrus Gillom. (Her two Uncles) Leslie falls; Donnell Green; (Her Grandfather) Robert Hurst Jr. (Patricia), (Her Great Grandparents); Robert & Patricia Hurst; Johnny & Sandra Green; Dorothy tiaras. A host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousin and friends. Her best friends; Terra, Deja and Mya.
