ObituaryThe Angel of silence quietly whispered his name at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 12,2012 while resting in his home. Richard J. LaPlante' was one of 6 children, born May 19, 1931 to Harold and Hildred LaPlante' in St. Louis, Missouri. Ills parents and sister, Marian preceded him in death. After graduating high school in 1946, Richard dedicated his life to serving in the U.S. Army from July 1948 - April 1952. He then decided he wanted to see the seas of the world by joining the U.S. Navy from September 1953 - February 1959. While living in New York, Richard worked until he retired from New York City Transit Authority. Richard confessed his life to the Catholic faith at an early age and, as an adult he was baptized and entered into the Baptist faith. Richard united with Doris Kramer in 1966 and to this union were 2 sons. Richard was selfless, loved to laugh, and he always had a smile on his face, we all agree. He leaves to cherish his memories: 2 sons; Andre LaPlante' (Amy) of Florida and Richard Laf'lante. Jr. of New York; 1 sister, Vivian (Vincent) of St. Louis, MO; 3 brothers, Harold LaPlante' (Kay) of Arizona, Harry LaPlante' (Joan) of Minnesota, and Ronald LaPlante' (Thelma) of New York; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He also leaves a special friend, Selena Smith. He will be greatly missed by all. Interment:J.B. National Cemetery2900 Sheridan AvenueSt. Louis, MO 63126 .
