Life Reflection Lawrence Vernell Cutts, Sr. was born in St. Louis, MO, on February 23, 1936 to the late George Anderson Cutts and Willie Mae Flood. When he was born, the nurse gave him the nickname "Puddin" based on his chocolate complexion. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents,and daughter, Norma Jean Traylor and twelve siblings. Lawrence was raised in Meacham Park, MO. He graduated from Vashon High School in the 1950s. In 1954, Lawrence enlisted in the United States Air Force and served until January 1958. When Lawrence met Melva Peal, he was fifteen years old and she was thirteen. After returning home from the service, the two joined in Holy Matrimony. To that union. nine children were born. Melva was affectionately called "Sweetie" by Lawrence and she called him "Puddin" or "Dad".There was no secret that Melva was unapologetically spoiled rotten. Their sixty-three yearsof marriage was a testimony and an example of true unconditional love to family and friends.The two opened their home up and raised Anita Johnson and Tina Pollard Williams as their own. "Puddin" was loved and respected by so many. He was a pillar in the community and made a great impact. Lawrence and Melva raised their family in the Kirkwood Church of God, which he helped build. They were not only faithful members for fifty years, but Lawrence was also a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, Janitor, and often cut the grass. In later years, the Cutts Family transitioned to the Kinloch Church of God. Recently, Lawrence and Melva returned home to Kirkwood under the pastorate of Pastor David Winslow. Lawrence was employed by Melisia's Antique Store in Kirkwood, MO. He also worked in the moving business until retirement in 1995. Afterwards, Lawrence got a part time job at Walmart as a stocker, and a greeter at Sam's Club. In his latter years, Lawrence enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, reading his Bible and watching television. He also enjoyed listening to gospel, especially old hymns. Every Friday, Lawrence would fry buffalo fish. With family by his side, the Lord sent His angel down to escort Lawrence home on October 30, 2021. He will be forever in the hearts of his wife, Melva; son, Michael, David (Bonnie), Lawrence Jr.(Jacqueline), James (Nina), and Timothy (Yvette); daughters, Sheila Moore (John), Lisa Cutts-Lee (Keith), Kellie, Anita Johnson and Tina Williams (Randy); forty grandchildren, over one hundred great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, brother, Fred Cutts; one brother-in-law, seven sisters-in-law, a special niece, Mary Thompson; and a host of other nieces, nephews and friends.
