Celebration of Life of George Lightfoot George Lightfoot was born October 27, 1940 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the fourth of five children born to Shelby and Helen Lightfoot. His mother (Helen), father (Shelby), two brothers (Harold and Shelby) and one sister (Betty) preceded him in death. George was educated in the Lincoln County School District in Troy, MO where he graduated from Buchanan High School in 1958. Immediately after he went to the U.S. Marine Corp. He served four years as a rifleman and was honorably discharged in 1965. During that time he met Ola Mae Rivers and they united in matrimony in 1963. Upon being released from the Marines, George went on to work in construction until he retired. He enjoyed life in Richmond Heights, MO. George had a great love for music, especially jazz. When his home on Banneker was sold George moved to Troy, MO for a period of time then returned to St. Louis, MO. He leaves to cherish in memories: one daughter, Stephanie (Philip) of St. Louis, MO; one son, Hiram Leon (Ester) of Maryland; one sister, Lorna Robinson of Troy, MO. George has nine grandchildren: Jessica, Issac, Jeremy, Jacqui (Eddie), Lauren, Aaron, Steven, Justin, and Shannon; five great-grand-children: Amyas, Eddie IV, Karly, Elijah, and Maverick; sisters-in-law, Gloria "Red" Cage and Brenda Rivers; a host of nieces and nephews; and his dear friend, Donald Foster of Columbia, MO (Don T.).
